Clarity
The clarity of a gemstone refers to its inclusions, small natural interior characteristics that a gemstone may contain.
IF - Internally flawless: The gemstone is free of inclusions with a 10x loupe.
VVS - Very very slight inclusions: The gemstone is free of inclusions visible to the naked eye, but not necessarily at 10x magnification. Also namned eye clean.
VS - Very slight inclusions: Inclusions are slightly visible to the naked eye, but do not affect the brilliance and beauty of the gemstone.
SI - Slight inclusions: Inclusions are visible to the naked eye, reflection of light and/or color is slightly inhibited.
I - Inclusions: Inclusions are easily visible at the naket eye.
This analysis is carried out by our gemological experts at the time of the selection of the stones. Some gemstones such as emerald are naturally included, we talk about a garden in the heart of the stone, these are the signs of the uniqueness of the stone and proof that it is natural.
Treatment
In jewelry, treatments are necessary on some gemstones to enhance their natural beauty, bring out their color and reduce inclusions.
At Nascendi, we only accept natural and commonly accepted methods of treatment in jewelry:
Heating: this is a technique used on many gemstones and consists of reproducing the action of the earth on the gemstone: the gemstones are exposed to a strong heat, which naturally changes their colour and strengthens them.
The oiling of emeralds: Emeralds are naturally included, so most of the time they are soaked in baths of colourless oil to fill the cavities (mostly cedar oil).
We also offer untreated gemstones. It is important to note that for some variety untreated gemstones are more expensive as they are rarer.
